Amoako Boafo

Regular price Regular price $55

This book is the first comprehensive examination of the practice of Ghanaian painter Amoako Boafo. It presents selected works dating from 2017 to 2021, including portraits from Boafo’s Body Politics, Black Diaspora, Shadow, and Couple series. Notable for their exhilarating colors and patterns, and made with the artist’s unique method of applying pigment with his fingers, the paintings represent new ways of approaching and celebrating Blackness.

In addition to 140 color illustrations, the book includes a foreword by Camille Weiner and essays by Osei Bonsu and Rachel Cargle, which offer interpretations of Boafo’s work; poetry by aja monet and Mutombo Da Poet dedicated to the artist; and an interview with Boafo about his career by Paul Schimmel.
